Hi Everyone,
Today I want to talk about a fond memory I have of the first time I cooked partly on my own. I was about 5 years old, and my mom decided we would bake cookies together. I vividly remember how excited I was to do this—I felt very grown up.
We first took out all the ingredients listed on the back of the Toll House Dark Chocolate Chip package. We picked dark chocolate because it is both of our favorite type of chocolate, since it does not taste too overwhelmingly sweet.
Once we finished getting the ingredients, bowls, spoons and baking sheets organized, we began to mix everything together. I could not believe that I was allowed to pour all the ingredients into the bowl. I felt that I had so much responsibility throughout the entire baking process. I also thought it was amazing that I was actually creating something!
I had an incredible time working with my mom, and baking something sweet together made it all the better.
For a blog about healthy eating, chocolate chip cookies do not necessarily fit the topic that well. However, this was a moment where food brought me and my mom a little bit closer, which is something that is so important to everyone’s health.
All the best,
Clio Boele
